Spain industrial output falls 2.2% year-on-year in January

Mar 8, 2021

(Reuters) – Spain’s calendar-adjusted industrial output declined a wider than expected 2.2% year-on-year in January as the country’s factories still struggle with the effects of the COVID-19 restrictions, data from the National Statistics Institute showed on Monday.

The contraction is wider than the 0.7% analysts polled by Reuters had expected as the country’s economic activity had yet to recover from the consequences of the pandemic.

The Statistics Institute revised the December output contraction to 1.5% from a previous decline of 0.6%.
